StarCHO Medium represents a new generation of serum-free cell culture media specifically optimized for Chinese Hamster Ovary (CHO) cells. This medium is formulated to deliver exceptional cell growth performance and high recombinant protein yields, making it a preferred choice for biopharmaceutical manufacturers.
StarCHO is a chemically defined basal medium formulated for thawing, passaging, and supporting high-density fed-batch processes across multiple Chinese hamster ovary (CHO) cell subtypes. It is hydrolysate-free, animal-origin free (AOF), and does not contain L-glutamine. It contains 6 g/L D-glucose.
Recommended cell subtypes: CHOZN GS-/-.
Recommended companion media: StarCHO™ Feed Plus and CDFS12™ Feed Supplement.
This product is intended for research use or further manufacturing, including large-scale biopharmaceutical production. It is not intended for direct human administration or use as a drug substance or drug product.
Key features:
1) Serum-free, animal-component-free formulation meeting regulatory requirements;
2) Balanced nutrient blend supporting high cell density and viability;
3) Enhanced buffering capacity for stable pH control during culture;
4) Compatible with fed-batch and perfusion culture processes;
5) Supports various CHO cell lines and recombinant protein types;
6) Delivers high yields across different CHO cell lines while maintaining high cell densities and viability for robust bioprocessing;
7) GMP-ready for seamless R&D-to-GMP transition;
8) Robust intra- and inter-lot consistency (RSD <5%);
9) Flexible packaging formats (dry powder media or liquid).
StarCHO Medium, when fed StarCHO Feed and CDFS36 Feed Supplement, outperformed a competitor in CHOZN GS-/- mAb expression, showing 130% titer increase on day 14, with higher late-stage VCDs and comparable viability.
StarCHO Medium is suitable for research laboratories, process development, and large-scale commercial production of monoclonal antibodies and other therapeutic proteins.
